There are a number of sites I visit and/or use frequently, be it for entertainment, be for reference. These are in addition to the the news sites and the websites for the tools I use. Here's a list of sites I visit regularly:
I do quite a lot of shopping online, these are places where I'm a regular customer:
Amazon.co.uk
I think that one is self explanatory. Mainly books, sometimes CDs and sometimes some electronics is what I buy here. Disclaimer: I'm registered as an affiliate with Amazon.co.uk, if you use one of my links to order from Amazon.co.uk I will earn some commission.
Sendit.com
DVDs is what I buy here on the rare occasion that I buy one. Very good selection and usually very quick. Disclaimer: I'm registered as an affiliate with Sendit.com, if you register with them after using one of my links and then order from Sendit.com I will earn some commission.
Figleaves
Before you get confused, they have a Men's Department, which is where I shop. Usually quick delivery and good selection of underwear.
Cotswold Outdoor
As the name implies, outdoor clothing and equipment. I don't often shop here online as their largest store is only a short drive away and I prefer trying on clothing and shoes before I buy. Nevertheless I often browse through their site and sometimes also order online.
Looking up things.
Answers.com
A very good online dictionary and encyclopedia.
LEO Deutsch-Englisches Wörterbuch
A German-English dictionary, in case I need to look up a translation. Especially helpful when I forget the German translation for an English word again.
Scots-Online
A website about Scots including a Scots-English dictionary which I sometimes use.
It's always a good idea to check out the latest scare e-mail before sending it on, especially if it is yet another hoax...
Urban Legends Reference Pages (Snopes.com)
Probably the best know page about Urban Legends, also has a RSS feed to help me stay up to date with the latest hoaxes.
Die Zeit - Wissen - Stimmts?
In German, a collection of essays about a variety of urban myths and other questions by the German weekly newspaper Die Zeit.
Sites which didn't fit into any of the categories above.
saynoto0870.com
Calls to 0870 and similar numbers are often more expensive that regular calls or not included in mobile phone call allowances. This website helps to find the standard telephone number for most companies or organisations.
The AA Route Planner Great Britain
Does what it says on the link: helps to plan driving routes. Not alway perfect, but helps me to plan the route when I need to drive somewhere.
