Armin's playlist - Music I listen to

Classical Music

Bremer Kaffeehausorchester - Lieben Sie Strauss?
Very nice music to listen to on a quiet Sunday afternoon. The Kaffeehausorchester (coffee house / salon orchestra) from Bremen (where I was born and grew up in Germany) consists out of five musicians. They have adapted various pieces for their small orchestra. Pieces by Johann Strauss, various waltzes and polkas
Bremer Kaffeehausorchester - Rendezvous im Kaffeehaus
The second CD published with Sony (there have been others before, probably collectors items by now). Pieces from various composers including Winkler, Lehàr, Lincke, Brahms and Grieg. Beautifully arranged and played, perfect for another quiet and relaxing Sunday afternoon

Popular Music

In my case mainly rock, punk, alternative or whatever you want to call it. Guitars, bass and drums.

The Strokes - Is this it
Exactly what I expect from two guitars, a bass, drums and vocals: Just great music.
Mull Historical Society - Loss
The fantastic debut album by the "one man band" from Mull/Scotland. My favourite song is Animal Cannabus, yours might be another one. They are all excellent.
Cigarettes and Alcohol
A compilation of "40 Modern Anthems" (Blurb from the sleeve). The LA's - There She Goes, The Small Faces - All or Nothing, Travis - Happy, Catatonia - Road Rage, just to name a few. One of my favourite compilations of this type
Cigarettes and Alcohol Volume II
The next volume of this excellent compilation. Squeeze - Cool for Cats, Toploader - Achilles Heel, The Faces - Stay with me, Stereophonics - Have a Nice Day, to name a few from this one. Excellent music
White Stripes - White Blood Cells
Music as raw as it can get: Drums, guitar and vocals. Brilliant.
The Hives - Your New Favourite Band
A "Best of" album as the transfer to a major label from this Swedish band. Includes the excellent "Hate to say I told you so"
The Jam - The Very Best of the Jam
Eton Rifles, Going Underground, That's Entertainment. Need I say more?

Comedy

Laughter is the best medicine. So they say ;-)

Billy Connolly - Two Night Stand
Two shows (Glasgow and London) of the Big Yin's 1997 UK tour. Warning: Contains material some people might find offensive ;-) Like what? Billy Connolly swearing?
Jack Dee - Live in London (Gielgud Theatre)
Jack Dee's last show of his 1997 UK tour. Dead pan humour at its best.

Spoken Word

Famous books read by famous actors.

Iain Banks - The Wasp Factory
A rather bizarre and unusual story. I don't know how to describe the novel, the only thing I can say is that I couldn't put it down once I had started it. As a teaser may be this text from the back cover has to be enough: "Enter - if you can bear it - the extraordinary private world of Frank, just sixteen, and unconventional, to say the least.".
